The Eyes of a Child

Hello folks. This week's post is coming from North Carolina. I am on vacation visiting Favorite Oldest Son and his family. For this reason, today's post will be short.

I brought my Granddaughter with me for this trip. It was her first airplane ride (not counting the one when she was a baby and doesn't remember that whole trip), so I was able to experience the trip through her perspective. What a joy kids can be when we try to see things through them.

Sometimes simple things for an adult are seen as complex problems to a child. This comes as no surprise, I'm sure. However, the flip side is that sometimes complex things are broken down to something quite simple and imaginative by a child.

I was able to view the clouds outside the plane window as amazing pillars, animals, structures. The shapes and symbols on the ground (made from the roads and rivers across our country) were examined, too.

Experiencing this trip through the eyes of an 8-year-old girl was a lesson in staying grounded.

I would like to offer this opportunity to each of you. Go outside, look up at the sky and revisit that time and place of your own childhood when it was acceptable to lie in the grass and imagine all sorts of things in the clouds. What animals do you see? A dog...a dinosaur...or perhaps a building?

Just let go of all the grown-up worries and let your imagination free. Do you feel recharged? I hope you do. Reconnecting with our imagination is a great way to reconnect with ourselves. Our adult lives are riddled with responsibilities, to-do lists, and financial woes. Take this time to recharge your "batteries."

Our souls and imaginations are connected to each other, so make sure yours is connected and running at full speed. Have a great weekend everyone.

Please feel free to leave a comment or question. All commenters will be in the drawing for July!

  1. Hello!
Sent you an email, to tell you how much I liked both of your books. But in case you don't get it, just wanted you to know that I bought both of them yesterday - and read them the same day. One word for you, child: Awesomesauce! Enjoyed them both immensely. And actually tracked down this site, to see if you are planning on writing any more. Which, I see, you are! Again: awesomesauce! Looking forward to your next - and the next, and the next.
    Thanks for the lovely reads.
