Book 3 - Progress

Hello, Readers!

I hope you had a wonderful week.

My week was pretty satisfying as far as my writing goes. I seemed to have broken through the wall that had formed around "Penny's Story." My inspiration for this story came to a screeching halt a couple of months ago and I have been struggling ever since.

The heroine in book three of the Intergalactic Matchmaking Services series is Penny "Jones." (And yes, the quotation marks are there for a reason!) I never realized how hard it would be to write about a cancer patient. I figured my own experience with family lost to cancer would be able to help me. Also, I've had two cancer "scares" of my own over the years.

However, my old nemesis, Fear-of-Failure, kept eating away at me. How could I do justice to a role that I had not experienced to some degree? The idea of letting my readers down by failing to convey the lead character properly brought me to that screeching halt. Fear-of-Failure then built a wall and called in reinforcements for delaying purposes and general emotional angst.

Long story short, I've worked through the Fear to find how to convey my character in the most believable, and still enjoyable, way I can. I think I was giving the cancer a bigger starring role than was needed. It's what she has...not what she is...make sense? I am sure my readers will enjoy meeting Penny and getting to know her.

So there is the teaser. Rest assured, this post is short for a reason! I am in the "throws of writing" and do not want to stay away from the story for long. Oh, and for those wanting more from Claire and Pacer, you will be happy to know their story continues in "Penny's Story." The same goes for the Maggie and Shirley and their guys!

Have a wonderful weekend. Please feel free to leave a comment or question. All commenters will go into the September drawing for a prize!

Until next time, be kind to each other...and yourselves.
